tired, tired legs

Bicycling season is in full swing folks. I’ve been pounding out the miles every day I can. I am a Comp level mt. bike racer in the Minnesota State Championship Series. Basically that means I’m in the 3rd highest of 4 levels in our series. I’m happy to say I’m not one of those sandbagging son’s of bitches that are too "cool" to race expert cause they wanna win. Or too much of a pansy ass to move up from Sport for the same reason. BALLS. You know who you are you crazy bastards. Not me…I like pain, especially on a bicycle. I’m that guy finishing middle to back of the pack suffering from a hangover and ready to rock it out. This year is a new year however. I’ve always told myself I’m gonna be better this year with no avail. This year is going much better. With just under 400 miles in last month(and a full time job) I’m happy to say its about 3 weeks from my first race and I’m pretty stoked. A new attitude and a new kick ass look Img_0308 I think it’ll be a new and exciting year. I’m also attempting my first solo 24hr. mt bike race. That’s not until August. Thats the new jersey for this summer. A Pink Floyd "Division Bell" jersey. One of my all time favorite bands and I’m not on Erik’s team this year, so I needed a new jersey. Lately I’ve felt like I’m the guy that has to initiate something to do with my "friends". Why do I always have to make the phone call to do something. Making a phone call you you’re friend shouldn’t feel like an obligation. I dunno, its been on my mind. I made some calls this past weekend to longtime friends and didn’t get a call back. Thats the other thing. Is it so hard to return a fucking phone call? Cripes. It bugs me. I mean, you get my voicemail, when I get one I get a lightbulb in my head "huh, maybe they wanted to talk to me". Ah fuck it. Anyways, today the sun was out and it didn’t rain all day for the first time in 4 straight days. Well, it did for a bit this evening. I got in a coooooooool 3 hrs. and 50 miles today. I felt a little tired at the 2hr. mark, but had a powerbar and was set. That makes 75 miles so far this week. Good stuff. I went out for 2 hrs. on Sunday in the rain. It was fun but a pain in the ass to clean today. It was worth it though. I started putting back together the old Kona today. I figure I’ll build up my old bike for friends that wanna come ride with me. All I need is a front fork. Should be a good week of sortakindaonlyslightlystress at the shop and great riding. Oh yea, the old Shoreview Erik’s crew is getting together Sunday night at Chino Latino in Uptown. I’m sure there will be very stupid drunk tricks going on that night. Cant’ wait. WORD.. Love, Peace, and Bicylce grease.
